IV sedation
IV sedation lets you stay deeply calm through longer or more involved treatment. You keep breathing on your own and can respond, and most people remember little of the visit afterwards.
Who it can help
People who feel anxious about dental care, have a strong gag reflex, or are having implant surgery, bone grafting or several procedures in one visit. We review your medical history and medications first to make sure it suits you.
What to expect
A small IV line is placed in your arm or hand, and the sedative is given gradually. Your breathing, heart rate and oxygen levels are monitored throughout. Afterwards you rest with us until you are ready to go home.
How to prepare
You will need someone to drive you home and stay with you for the rest of the day. We give you clear instructions beforehand on eating, drinking and which medications to take.
